Universal Pack will build another well in one of the poorest and most beautiful areas of Africa.

WHY A WELL

Universal Pack machines are distributed across the African continent and are installed both in major cities and rural areas. Our working relationships with these territories have given us the opportunity to understand the strength and needs of these people. This has made us aware of some of the significant challenges they face daily.

Building a well in a rural area can address two fundamental problems that afflict a community’s life: mobility and water supply. Having clean and locally accessible drinking water prevents residents (especially women) from walking endless distances just to collect a bit of water for their families. Having a local source of water translates into increased agricultural resources, hygiene, health, and a drastic reduction in infant mortality.

WHERE

Gereb is a village in the Tigray region in northern Ethiopia. This region has suffered centuries of deforestation, leaving it virtually treeless and devoid of green areas.

By leveraging the support and expertise of “Progetto Familia Onlus,” a prominent nonprofit organization with a strong background in Ethiopia, we will drill a well 80 meters deep that will provide clean and drinkable water to approximately 1000 people, distributed among around 250 families and 550 students attending the local school.

NEXT FUTURE

The well will be built in the 4 months following Interpack 2017 and will represent a first step in what we can do for the Dendera community.

After bringing water to the village, we would like to expand their school and construct a healthcare facility.

Doing it together will allow us to do it better and sooner!
