When Packaging Becomes Culture: Our Machine at the Science Museum in London

In 1992, a Universal Pack machine for sugar sachet packaging was selected for display at the Science Museum in London, one of the m

ost prestigious museums in the world dedicated to science, technology, and innovation.

A place that houses some of the inventions that have shaped human history, from the steam engine to the first computers and where our technology also earned its place.

This machine, now considered historic, was designed for the automatic packaging of sugar in sachets. Presenting the exhibit was its technical datasheet, describing its features along with the dosing and sealing mechanisms.

It wasn’t just a set of mechanical components, but rather a project that combined science, methodology, and industrial culture an important recognition for an Italian company that had made innovation its signature.

A Symbolic Image of a Long Journey

The photograph of that machine, exhibited in the heart of London, is now a symbolic image for us. It tells an important chapter in our company’s journey, which began 60 years ago in 1965 with the development of the first automatic packaging solutions. It has since continued with increasingly advanced technologies for sachets and stick-packs, up to complete lines for primary and secondary packaging.

Over the decades, Universal Pack has made applied precision, design reliability and attention to detail its core values.

Packaging as a Science

For us, packaging is not just about enclosing a product. It is a process that requires knowledge, experience, and a scientific approach. Every solution we design is the result of research, material testing, technological innovation, and continuous dialogue with our customers.

Being featured in a museum like the one in London was a clear signal: packaging can become culture, and mechanical engineering, when driven by vision, can leave a lasting mark.

An Example of Italian Excellence

That exhibition was also a concrete example of Italian excellence: the ability to combine technical expertise, passion for quality, and industrial vision.

A philosophy that we continue to pursue every day, with our eyes firmly set on the future.
