Fine Foods & Pharmaceuticals N.T.M. The cooperation between Fine Foods and Universal Pack begins with a project for the development of two complete lines for packaging stick-packs in sachets and for inserting these automatically into pre-glued cartons.

The purchaser needed a technological solution allowing for the best in terms of flexibility, output and compliance with the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.

Universal Pack’s project fulfilled all requirements. It is based on the following aspects:

• • Total flexibility: unlike conventional end-of-line systems, the patented Universal Pack system allows you to insert any number of sachets into a carton;

• • The number can be set via HMI without having to perform expensive size changeovers.

• • Thanks to another Universal Pack patented system, you can minimise the volume of cases by positioning sachets side-by-side and on their edges on several levels.

• • The system for transferring sachets into cartons, especially designed for the Fine Foods project, offers the possibility to produce multi-level cartons with and without separators, thanks to a further patent involving the cartoning unit.

• • Thanks to this patented system, it is also possible to fold the information leaflet over the sachets, which allows for the use of folded or unfolded leaflets as well as booklets.

• • Adjustments and size changeovers are performed without using tools.

• • To guarantee the utmost precision with any output, lines have been equipped with multi-row weight checking systems, load cells measuring in thousandths with feedback directed to the single rows of the dosing unit.

• • To make packaging easier to handle, laser scoring has been implemented on the film, which facilitates opening of the stick-pack sachet even without a “bottleneck”.

• • The dosing system can be removed and positioned at a comfortable height to facilitate cleaning and size changeovers.

• • The stick-pack sachets proceed towards the counting system on the side opposite to the operator’s work station. This feature offers further advantages in terms of comfortable cleaning and size changeovers.

• • Universal Pack cartoning machines offer total visibility of cartons, both from the front side and the rear side of the machine. This unique feature makes adjustments and size changeovers particularly easy since it is possible to visually “follow” the product during all stages of production.
